Canary Trees Have Women's Hormones

During this may be people already know that the hormone progesterone is owned by humans and animals. But recent studies have found a walnut tree hormone progesterone.

Progesterone is a female sex hormone produced in the ovaries. Of this steroid hormone influences on female menstrual cycle, pregnancy and embryogenesis.

And recently, researchers have found these female sex hormones in the walnut tree. This is a great discovery, because before people only know that progesterone is found only in humans and animals.

Until now, researchers thought that the only animals besides humans that can produce progesterone. A steroid hormone secreted by the ovaries, progesterone prepares the uterus for pregnancy and maintaining pregnancy. A synthetic version, progestin, used in birth control pills and other drugs.

"The importance of a clear indication of progesterone can not be overstated," wrote F. Guido Pauli and his colleagues in the journal of the American Chemical Society, Natural Products, as reported from LiveScience, Tuesday (05/25/2010).

Researchers speculate that the hormone progesterone, like other steroid hormones, may be an ancient bioregulator evolved billions of years ago, before the advent of modern plants and animals.

The new findings could alter the scientific understanding of evolution and function of progesterone in living organisms.

Pauli and his colleagues used two power engineering laboratory, namely nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectroscopy, to detect progesterone in Common types of walnut tree leaves or Bahasa Walnut Walnut.

Pauli also identified five progesterone-related steroids in plants, including buttercups family.
