As of March 2010 and the FDA asked doctors to stop while the oral vaccine because of allegedly contaminated with a harmless virus from pigs. Furthermore, the FDA identifies source of contamination and to investigate possible side effects. Although during these viruses from pigs, also called procine circovirus 1 (PCV1) was not proven cause of human disease.

In a statement issued by the FDA Friday (14 / 5), mentioned by the evaluation and research laboratories Rotarix vaccine manufacturers and the FDA laboratories, plus a review from scientists and health experts, rotavirus vaccine declared safe and allowed to continue their use.

Before issuing the statement, the FDA said clinical trials have investigated the records are made to more than 10,000 patients and also the recognition of thousands of vaccine recipients.

"There is no evidence that the PCV1 or PCV2 cause harm to humans or cause infection or disease. Now that the doctors should continue giving this vaccine," wrote the FDA in a statement.

In addition to a less clean environment, rotavirus is one of the viruses that cause diarrhea. In Indonesia, 50-60 percent of the incidence of acute diarrhea caused by rotavirus in children. This seemingly trivial disease in fact is the cause of death of children.
